Mighty Maroon Band Auditions for Band Placements for the 2020-21 School Year
Auditions for all Woodwinds and Brass will be done via Google Classroom.
Please join the Google Classroom titled MMB Auditions 2020-21.
The class code is: qxv74rs
There will be three separate recording assignments due for the audition process:
Scales – due Friday, April 17
Lyrical Etude – due Friday, April 24
Technical Etude – due Friday, May 1
If school closure extends beyond May 4, then we will add a fourth recording to the process:
Sight Reading (Short Term Preparation). If this round is necessary, then we will provide details at a later date.
Each round will require you to upload a recording (video or audio) of yourself to the specified assignment in the MMB Auditions 2020-21 Google Classroom. All of the audition materials (Scales, Lyrical Etude, and Technical Etude) will be available immediately, however, you will not be able to post recordings to the Google Classroom assignment prior to the Monday of the week that Scales/Lyrical Etude/Technical Etude is due.
We prefer the recording to be in MP3 or Wave format. Recordings saved with Apple Music format require us to open them exclusively with Apple Music, thereby extending the listening time. Recordings that are saved in a format type we cannot listen to will receive a zero.
Before beginning you must clearly state the following on the recording:
3. Current grade level
4. School if you attend Agnew or Wilkinson
Scales: play as many of the 12 major scales as many octaves as you can in 3 minutes (this time includes introducing yourself). We will stop listening after three minutes regardless of the length of the submission.
The audition music is available for download/printing by clicking on the links below.
Any student who does not submit recordings will receive a band placement at the discretion of the Mighty Maroon Band Directors.
Percussion Auditions will be handled by Mr. Schoolar. He will provide percussion audition information directly to all the percussion students.
